I am about to order the Yorkshireman from Model Slipway but notice they have two motor alternative setups, in both cases MFA geared 540's with either a 6:1 gearing run on 12v or 2.5:1 run on 6v.

Either of these motors seem to get a bad press in that they are described as very noisy, suggestions please for alternatives.

These on direct drive and 12v should do the job more than adequately. **LINK**

Neglected to ask, using the direct drive +12v do I use 50mm props?

Also recommended which brass props please

I suggest you contact Jackie White at Model Slipway. I think they supply Raboesch props in the kit.

Update – Dutch Courage has Kort nozzles so the props should be a good fit in those i.e.no more than a mm or so less than the I/D of the nozzles. I think it was Rivabo props that were supplied but I doubt if they are these days. Prop Shop or Mobile Marine Models may be able to supply proper Kort props i.e. with the ends the right shape for the nozzles.
