If you're using 12v then why not swap the T12 motors for Graupner Speed 700 BB Turbo (12v)? You won't need to change ESCs. The part number in Graupner's catalogue is 6317 and here's a link to a supplier with some in stock.**LINK** Note that it's this 12v-badged version you need – any other type will be too fast on 12v.
They work very well in the Model Slipway Tamar, which is a similar size. Just don't use a heavy lead-acid battery – a 3S LiPo or ten NiMH cells will be much lighter and increase performance even further. 40mm 4-blade props are the order of the day here. Save the T12 motors for a tug or similar slow workboat, where their slow speed/high torque will be more suitable.

If you're still contemplating going down the brushless route you should consider the Turnigy D2822/17 1100 K/volt from Hobbyking priced at $9.28 each. Use the hobbyking SKV HK-30A speed controllers priced at about $ 14.99, as these have a reverse mode as well, on Lipo 7.2 volts would give a no load speed of about 7920 revs. You would have to have a battery charger to suit again Hobbyking do a Turnigy Accucel 6 which will do all the batteries you will ever want including gell cell lead acid priced at about $ 22.99 ( all prices in American dollars).

This is the set up I'm going to use in a MTB boat and has already been used my some other of our Club members very satisfactorily.

Anyway that's my two penneth of thought…..hope it helps.

              Seasons greetings and kind regards.

              Mike.
