      Firstly. hello to all,

I have just started RC model boats, tried the boat out, How ever, when I switch the controller on, there is a sound abit like morse code from the engine. then every so often, when I select the engine thottle on the controller, ‘well most of the time’ it slowly turns, then goes full thottle, still getting that noise, I still have rudder control.

      Any ideas.

        Hi Chris,

        Check your wiring.

Particularly any sockets/plugs. I had a similar problem whilst testing Pacific Light a couple of weeks ago, were one motor would run intermittently.  Traced the fault down to a Tamiya connector.  My soldering was quite good, but over did the solder !, and got some onto the outside of the pins.  This caused the pins not to sit properly in the connector, when the 2 halves were connected together they only just touched instead of going into each other.

        Cheers – Ken

          Hi Chris

Are you using an Electronic Speed Controller?

Some ESCs make the motors act with symptoms similar to those that you are describing when they are first switched on.

If you are using an ESC check its rating against the power draw of your motor.

Hope this is of some help.

          Paul

Cheers for the info, I checked the wiring looks ok, the some else mentioned the speed controller as well.

I just got to check the transmitter and receiver, done some distence test could be one or both.

              Cheers

              ChrisP.
