Hi there,

another question for ya all…I have a lesro atlantic 21… 90 percent done but not sure what color gray to use on the rib as it needs touching up tried taking pictures of it and cant make my mind up… the humbrol tins that came with it look nothing like the color on the chart or the boat so has any one the right number for the gray? mine is done in matt…I could put a picture up not sure how on here

Age can change the tint of the paint so touching up will be a problem at best. I would re paint the rib rather than touch it up. I doubt that the exact colour will be a problem, just use a grey you are happy with. It’s not an exact scale model so a close match will be ok.

Hi Graeme

If the touch up areas are easy to sand, clean them up with 600 wet and dry, used wet with a few drops of wash up liquid, sand and feather the edges, then go over the whole hull lightly just to key the surface.

At this point i ask if the chips of paint have been knocked off or the paint is not sticking to the moulded hull in larger areas?

If all ok spray with a rattle can of grey acrylic under coat. I use Simonize but if only doing a small hull like yours try the smaller cans from the pound shops.

Always remember, preparation is all. You can't cover cracked or split paint, sand it smooth.
