Hull paint

Hello

My first boat is a plank on frame, I intend sailing it. I have no idea about what paints and primers to use. I don't want to use a brush as the brush marks will show. Can someone please advise on what sorts of primers and paints I can use.

You will get lots of good advice about paints for spraying, but I have always used hair brushes. Good quality and properly looked after, using proper modelling quality paint rather than artist paint, no brush marks unless I want them.

Have a look at this, which describes three different ways I have used to do the same job. I habitually use Halfords aerosol car sprays for the main colours, with Humbrol enamel to pick out the smaller detailed parts afterwards. **LINK**

The tissue, allied to the dope, makes a surface that is not only smooth but incredibly tough. And it smells fantastic while you are doing it.

Yes spent my young years "Glue Sniffing" but in those days it was called Aeromodelling
