      hello
my name is martin, my old interests are getting a bit too heavy for me now and i want to start this as a hobby but not really in the new …….but the vintage items, older switching gear parts etc.
i have some sort of large old wooden boat (you will have to forgive my obvious ignorance) and what may be clear to you probably wont to me, please be patient.
the boat is approx 36 inches long, looks like a cruiser of sorts, wood,
condition of it is good but no running gear/controls what so ever, the question is where would i go to get parts and possible info for this boat, ( i live in Staffordshire but can travel almost anywhere in the uk ) it is not a modern item and looking at other boats id think it must be 50 to 60 + years old but that is purely a guess.
i cant bring myself to get rid of it… when it has something about it ya know….
i also know it could and probably will cost a small packet.(not realy a problem for the right parts )
i know ive been very vague ……..sorry… sorry.

if someone could point me in a direction please

      thanking you
      martin b

Hi, a picture would be a great help to identify the model. The older designs have a large foloweing so someone will probably recognise it., If that’s not possible then have a look at the fireboat we site and look at some of the non fire boat models shown on there, yours might be like one of those. When we know what it is we can start to recomend some gear.
I will also recomend going to a club, someone on here will know where your nearest one is.
          Good luck,
          Charlie

            hello
i am so sorry for not replying back, for some reason my laptop will not let me post pictures,(my teenage son has been messin).

anyway……that said……i have found out that i now own an 36 ” long R A F crash fire boat, and it seems that it should have a 600speed motor of a graupner navy 30r 6//12volt 30amp speed controller powered by a 7.2 volt3800 nicad….;.all of which meens little to me at the moment……..although 30amp????????
thank you for replying avatar……and i hope someone can now help me in my quest in finding parts etc.
also does anyone know the nearest club to me in staffordshire (that’s staffordshire England because i recently heard there’s another somewhere)
            thankyou
            martin
