I think your right Bob a bit of a raspberry was just an idea for keeping the creeping  dust out when in storage that could stay ontill it got to pondside Ahh well never mind.

Bit of breaking news now I’ve been inspired on another trip to Minehead and another siting of the Mary Ellen Her sister craft was out fishing no doubt. Looking down at her from the harbour wall I thought what an incredible opourtunity for a large scale project 1/6th leaps to mind. It’ll be a long term project mind you and step one is to arrange with the skipper to crawl over her or her (well brother to be honest lol) Edwin John with my camera, notebook and tape measure. Still undecided on which one yet possibly both!!!

It looks a bit too much like Holmewood Landing?

You Have a point there Bob the main difference for me is this is one I can crawl all over and get all the details spot on there should even be a chance to photograph the model on the water with the real thing. Also she simply appeals to me and yes there does appear to be a theme occuring here.

            OK…You`re the Boss

I fancy a big barge, for some reason……………..I`m doing my best to resist it, just haven`t got the space…………………but, no doubt, I`ll find some!

What`s the size of your latest proposal?

If your refering to the Mary Ellen then prob a metre maybe two the slipper launch is designed at 600mm (2′) but the drawings can be scaled to anything from as small as you can practically build (prob 1′) to full size just depends on the paper and workspace. if you want the draft lines plan and former/keel drawings I could email them in PDF format which most print shops can print at A1 for a 600mm (thats complete scale size former patterns and a scale size keel plan for tracing straight on to the building material alternatively when I get them printed for my mate I’ll simply add  another copy to the print order. (extra copies are mere pennies in a batch). its the media opening charge that costs, about a 5er so not to bad.

It occured to me that there isn’t a half decent video in this thread of the “Lady Sarah” actually sailing so having the time and weather (yes both together) I thought I’d redress the balance today.

When I say half decent Im’ afraid thats about as good as my video processing software allows at the min.

any way here’s THE LINK enjoy

Thought about fleetwood macs “Albatross” as background. however copyright prevents on a public forum

                      Hello Phil

I`ve got a video camera…………..Not used in the last five or six years, as the family and friends showed no interest…………In fact, I`ve forgotten how it works now.

If Slo Mo shapes herself and gets on the plane, I`ll dig it out and do the bizz!

Sounds good Bob Mine although a dvd camcorder works simplest when I record to its “Sd” memory card as then I simply insert said card into my USB card reader (poundshop item) and read the file from “Windows Movie Maker” (a free prog and part of the standard XPHome/Professional system) moderately easy to use if a little slow. Reading from the camera’s dvd seems to be something movie maker doesn’t want to do without a costly upgrade, shame really as disc quality is so much better than Sd card quality, and it’s wide screen format to.

At last a little more progress towards the finish line. I was at the south west model show today and finally let Mr Milbourne of Action Electronics lighten my wallet. in return I have the bits required to complete the winch and couldn’t resist the opourtunity to get started on my arrival home.

Drums fitted to the motors/gearboxes just need to makea cover and wire in the esc’s then fit

the left motor turns the left drum only for traversing the boom. the right motor raises the boom via a pulley reduction on the centredrum and hauls the main lifting sheet on the right drum.

The assy will sit on the deck with the mast between the motors.

Er Bad traffic on the way home Dave.  took me two hrs to get the whole thing running and properly set up. Just to ease your mind dave the capacitors are fitted! (thanks for 2 spare ones by the way) and the Power is coming through a 3A 5v BEC via the RX so hopefully no over voltage issues with the micro esc’s!

Control is pretty good once you get used to it glad I went for micro’s with linear control as opposed to pico’s with soft start. and the obligatory stickers finished the job off Dave.

any way a quick low res video of the beast in operation. hopefully when i fit the box over it the noise will abate a little.

I saw a boat very similar to the HL24 at Barmouth, yesterday. it was brand new and made of plastic………But, I`d left my camera behind in the car!…doh!

                                Well done……..Bob

Glad you like the winch I think it will add another dimension to sailing displays

The final touch will be a crew member on the deck to receive the incoming pot! hopefully he’ll turn to meet it as it comes aboard

We went to Barmouth last week and spotted a launch which could be a Holmewood Landing?

                                    Well?
