Thanks Bob! A couple more bits done 1st a couple of pot floats. as its a leisure fishermans boat only a couple instead of the host that normally adorn the foredeck

and finally the proper Brass prop has arrived

Should move a fraction faster now it has a 55mm brass prop instead of a 50mm plastic

When you`ve got nowt to do………How about fitting the Becker rudder feature…….It`ll add a bit of interest when sailing again, you`ll be impressed, how tight the turns can be achieved!
The above rudder is on my Great Eastern….Great fun

        Just a suggestion……….Bob

Nice idea Bob actually I am considering it for the noggsund as steering is a bit of an issue with that one where as the HL24 (lady sarah) turns in her own length as it is prob because of the nearly balanced rudder. any tighter turn circle and she will vanish up her proverbial

Oh nearly forgot the “samson posts” now I’m particularly pleased with these. Remember I don’t have a lathe or pillar drill so I often have to cheat. bearing that in mind what do you think I found to press into use for these???

That looks suspiciously like a brass radiator key……………………

Dave 1 Bob 0 sorry Bob but someone had to get it a bit wrong well done Dave purely by accident I placed my rad bleed key on the boat while I sorted another tool out and it struck me how similar it looked to the intended design so at 70p each I thought why not

If Like bob you’ve had a look at my photo album of this craft you could be forgiven for thinking she is finished. However there is still a fair bit of detailing to do, upgrades mostly I want to change the rear deck hatch from a solid screwed down affair to a double hinged lid, to make access to the rx and steering servo easier. still a couple of crab pots to finish, and more fishing rods, a landing net, boat hook etc etc. one other item is a working winch to haul those crab pots onboard. Ive found the right motors and esc’s and can achieve it all on 2 channels. this pic is the design useing 2 of Dave Milbourne’s M3G motors & gearboxes one runs two drums for the jib lifting/haul rope because the jib is lifted via 1:3 reduction pulley I can lift it 7″ at the tip and with the same revolutions of the 2 drums on a common shaft the haul rope can be 21″ long from the potblock. My only stumbling block at the min is the winch drums as I have no lathe on wich to turn them

Given that the sizes are critical or A, they wont fit in available space & B, the combined lift/haul idea will not work as planned so who’s got any Idea’s the shaft they go on is 4mm and can be threaded.

Smashing Bob 3.2 mm/1/8″ would be good then hopefully I can get a 4mm tap through them there won’t be any serious strain on them so it should work fine. You really don’t hang about do you

I have to admit making suitable clothing for her was a very steep learning curve luckily she came with suitable deck shoes as I don’t think I’d be up to making shoes that size lol

I had thought about that Bob but she only draws 3″ or less and apart from running with the wind I feel one would simply create handling problems plus as the yardarm is rigged for lifting the installation of a sail would be problematic. Still a nice idea and one I’ll prob use on a later boat.

Edit: One idea I’m working on is another crew member stood alongside the centre seat who turns as the crab pot comes on board following it. plenty of room under the deck for a servo.!!!!!!!!

This is another Idea I’ve been chewing over. A cover for the boat when not in use that can double as a dodger in bad weather. (yes we occaisionally get  bad weather in the south west lol) This is a prototype I’ve knocked up (I know it looks like an old raf blanket) forward of the mast I plan another section with clear panels and a further sect aft to cover the cockpit area when moored.

So what do you all think is it an idea worth taking further I’m still a little unsure
