Well its been 3 months waiting for some info on the final details of the centre control console/seat and not a whisper so I’ve made a start using the original cad pictures as a guide. Have to  say overall it looks like it’ll work ok. I have decided that I will fit a mast step as  once or twice a year we have a late night sail with the boats decorated with lights and I intend to step the mast and festoon it with no less than 60 coloured led’s (ex chrisie tree lights)

        Hello Phil

Are the scuppers on the real boat, like your model?

I would be tempted to add Duck Boards over the top….they would look nice?

        Just an idea…..Bob

of course she’ll get rubbing strips Bob nearly forgot them though  as for one man and his dog I’m still struggling with 1/8th figures I may resort to an AM head grafted to a shorter body need to visit more Car Boot sales

more  WIP pics for you all! I’ve got the centre console nearly complete once the varnishing is done I’ll and a red leatherette cushion to the seat area. also fitted is the cooling pump. this is the graupner 6/12v pump and at 6v supplies a good flow however it seems to be a tad on the noisy side I wonder is this normal.

I would use loose fitting removeable duck boards for the floor covering……..rather than planking?……..eh?

A very nice scratch built project, Phil……..The red cushion will finish it off nicely!

They are called “Jump Rings” from a card craft shop, have a look at this site http://www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/jump-rings/c61 to see what they are like.

Thanks for that Paul. The bty isolater switch is to be fitted there Bob hopefully made to look like a throttle and, if I can find the right size bubble compass, a working compass. and a red led/bulb to indicate power on maybe a pair of lights green/red to indicate bty state.

Those Graupner pumps are noisy, but I reckon all gear-pumps are (certainly all of the ones I’ve handled). If you want a quiet AND high-volume pump then you’ll have to pay one helluvalot for it.

Cheers for your reply Dave I’m not to worried about high volume this one on 6 volts is more than adequate. on the subject we we’re discussing on another thread I’ve replied to your PM. further on the subject of this boat would one of your synthesized diesel sound units sound ok in this there is room in the for’d end of the seat/control console

in a couple of weeks we have our annual pre xmas evening fun sail in our local park and I’ve been thinking about which boat  to take for max impact. while out xmas shopping this afternoon the answer came to me in the form of some bty powered led xmas lights

The light sets are water proof and held on by suction  cups (lovely smooth paintwork lol) the mast isn’t part of the original plan for this boat but with the step below the deck boards it can be removed easily just a shame i couldn’t get a red set for the port side

Hi Geoff thought about that but white ones weren’t available and if you put transparent red paint on the blue ones the mix will give a very dark green if any light at all. and at the end of the day this is only a temp measure for the xmas evening sail and maybe again on boxing day depending on the level and flow of the river Tone through Taunton. so I’m not to bothered. also the sets are 20 light sets and it doesn’t look like I could get away with cutting 10 of they are wired on 3 wires between every alternate led so god knows if they are parralell wired or not

A couple more wip photo’s I’ve started the deck planking. all will be removable in 4 sections to allow bilges to be dried out if necessary. the area forward of the centre seat is crossed planked and will be brass edged to represent an inspection hatch for the cooling pump (bilge pump on the real thing) on the subject of electronics the for’d locker will hold a 6v NiMh bty for the pump lights and rx leaving the 7.2v NiMh under the control console to power the motor.

Hi Bob thanks for the kind words. the dials are on the agenda along with a skipper to go with the 7″ blond bombshell my good lady spotted on the shelf of a toy  store today according to scale that wheel is 30 inch diameter and the rim is 40 mm thick so I thought that about right size wise, On a lighter note watch this space on the 21st it is rumoured that Santa will be busy in the park in taunton apparently after all the rain we’ve had he’s thinking of trying a boat instead of a sleigh

More work in progress photo’s including one I have been aspiring to publish since I saw the lamppost reflected in the foredeck of Pauls barrel back! still not quite to his standard but then there are only 12 coats on this one

Thats our living room window in the reflection  well chuffed.

the rest show various bits around the boat, 1st the plug arrangements for the motor master switch on the consle the 2 plugs carry the  +’ve wire to and from switch which is actuated by pulling the red throttle lever next to the wheel (pull on push off for saftey plus if the console is lifted of it kills the motor esc circuit preventing fingers getting rapped as I lift it from the water.

Finally the hole with the wire protruding from the for’d locker is the 6v supply for the pump and Rx.
