thanks mate i think so to i dont know wheather to extend the top of the boat as some boats use the sides instead of handrails if you get my point?

what do you think?

Hi Martyn

As a general rule of thumb light weight and fast type boats such as power boats or patrol boats don’t have "extended bits" but have a flush deck with handrails, however slower heaver boats do have "extended bits" mainly around the bow area.

I hope this technical explanation is of some help.

Go with what ever you want mate that’s what i’ve done i’m going to use both (sides and hand rails) so it’s up to you.

The extended bits have many names but two of the most popular are Gunnel or Gunwale.

Hi all sory i haven’t updated in ages but i’ve been busy and i’m realy strugling with the boat’s the bigger one that’s going under repairs dosen’t have a brige i’m happy with and the smaller one needs a lot of work on it.

I’m thining of either building them again or going to a smaller scale (1:72 and just buy the kits) which i don’t want to do as it would mean i’ve wasted a lot of time and money on these builds and the italeri s-boot in 1:35 is too much money
