      Hi all,

I am probably going to be around for a bit, the OH has retaken up his old love of model helicopter flying.

So I have decided to give our old RC yacht some TLC . We bought it second hand about 5years ago and only every sailed it as we got it.

Sooooo we don’t know what make/model it is. & it sure does need some lovin .

I am going to start with stripping the hull & fittings of all that geogeous paint & see if I can get the deck off to sort out it’s guts  . It’s got a pretty lumpy hull so needs a good sanding & fairing also the rudder has a HUGE crack in it. I think it would be nicer if it had some kind of ‘cockpit’ or doghouse any idea’s on design. Keep it simple as I ain’t to hot on woodwork, yet …..

Would a bit more information help. ?

She’s 128cm long & 25cm at the widest point, the current mast is 146cm.

Would love some idea’s as to what it could/ should look like.

Hi Suzi From the photo and the length, I think your model is a Marblehead class.  This was a very popular competition class a few years ago.  If you look on http://www.vmyg.org.uk/links.htm there many enthusiasts of this (and other) raceing models.  I think the marblehead class was a version of the American 50/800 class,  50in. waterline 800sq.in. sail, your mast seem rather small, my top rig mast is 210cm.  Hope this helps  Tom

            Hi, thanks for the reply

Looks a bit boring don’t it , well may be I had better get it looking nice & sell it on.

I have got my eye on a nice looking wooden boat kit (Ulysses) & as this family already has 3 or 4 helicopters,1 dog,1 cat 2 tanks of tropical fish & 2 motorbikes, I had better settle for 1 model boat
