help please beginner to R/C does not know what to do

HI everybodyBrian Atherton here,

. I have just joined model boats magazine and I am not quite sure if I have posted this in the right place !!!!!!

I have already built two static models and I am presently building "M Y medea" by deans marine which I bought with all running gear supplied.

My question is about my next project soon to start. I have a Mountfleet models " Sealight " clyde puffer and the lighter number 7 which they have borrowed due to there recent problems,

What I need to know is what motor would suit this kit and what voltage would be best.. .

I am also intending to tow the lighter number 7 when if eventually gets built even though they did not use them in reality.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated many thanks

In most cases the manufacturer will recommend a suitable motor and prop, so that's the first port of call. Next would be a kit review from one of the magazines. Lastly if all else fails stick a 6:1 geared Torpedo 500 in it and run on 12 volts. If you prefer not to use a gearbox then a Speed 720 BB Torque will do the job, but not as cheaply.
