          Hello Tony,

And welcome, beware on buying a boat on ebay, as for of model chosen not a model i wuold choose to start with, i would choose 2.4 raidio and a brushed motor set up easyer than brushless ,

and start with model as basic control , go to yuor local club and see what its all about,

or wait before buying , you will get some good info coming your way here on forum,

still its your choice, have look at the gallery to see what other boats are about,

and some good build blogs, best of luck with search and dont rush into choosing,

its great hobby with a lot of good freinds ………cheers Larry…

BT. A good ploy would be to go to the lake/pond where you will be sailing whatever it is you choose, and assuming this is a model boating pool, speak to the chaps and see what they are sailing. You can get a feel for the sort of vessel you might like and the pro`s and con`s of the various systems.

As to your Perkasa.. I would err on the side of caution with it as a first boat and not buy it. We (as a forum) are a bit twitchy regarding 100, or any high value ESC`s, and the brushless motor could be either suitable or not, it might be a right amp-eater, and the boat could be spactacularly fast and totally UN suitable as a first boat.

As Larry says (or would do) is that the "new" 2.4g radios are the thing to start off with as a newcomer, as this will transfer much easier to your subsequent builds/purchases. Although obviously you WILL be building as this is most satisfying.

              Hello Tony

The Perkasa is a difficult model on the water due to its size and ability to eat battery power. For a first model I would suggest a Sea Commander or Sea Rover as they are a more comfortable size, easier to transport and less demanding on batteries.

Like the Perkasa they occasionally pop up on ebay and you can expect to pay between £12 – £25 for a damaged example and £80 – £125 for a decent model.

              Good luck with the hobby

              Paul
