Hello. Can somebody please help me as I have a Graupner Glasgow that I purchased second hand 2 years ago. My problem is that the standard small 13 tooth drive gear has broken, the large 39 tooth gear is ok. I have tried to get replacements from Cornwall Models and Westbourne Models to no avail. Graupner will not reply to e-mails probably as they have gone belly up. Does anybody have suggestions on alternative gears to use or a company that can supply a replacement. I have been to a gear milling company this morning who advised me that these gears are far from standard and to mill a replacement will not be cost effective.
      Many thanks for any advice.

          Hello Stuart

I did reply to your Geograph message, but it probably didn`t get through!

I wasn`t aware that Graupner had gone belly up?

I also replied to your message on my Glasgow thread too

          I`m using Hobby`s chain drives……… **LINK**

Have a look and talk again

          Bob

Hi Bob, very sorry not to reply to your past messages as they went to spam. I was told by Westbourne Models that Graupner is for sale at 1 euro with debts of 9 million euro approx. I have been looking at the Technobots site and have today ordered their plastic chain and sprocket set and also some other gears to try out. The only problem is that the main shaft is 5mm and the bore of the gears is 4mm. So I may have to think of even changing the drive rod to 4mm. Or trying to bore out 4mm to 5mm.

            Thanks Stuart

              Hello Stuart

You could easily drill out the gear from 4mm to 5mm on a vertical drill?

Is the gear boss big enough?

              Bob

                Hello Bob.

That's what I was hoping to do as the overall boss size measures 9.96mm.

                Stuart.

                    Hi Tony,

I have just contacted -Gliders. He is going to e-mail Graupner for me to see if they are still available as he thinks that you had the last one off him. I will update you if I have any luck if not I am going to try a chain drive system as suggested by Bob Abell.

                    Many Thanks

                    Stuart
