Every year, Etherow Model Boat Club have a Frostbite Sail on Dec 27th

For the last two years, the lake has been frozen over! But this year we`ve been lucky…….No ice!

We had a good turnout of members, with plenty of hot soup, buttered baps, mince pies and hot drinks in the clubhouse

With much merryment when, yours truly, turned up in his Lion King outfit, a very funny furry hat, which was a Christmas present that had to be worn….or else!

Bob, you were not wearing a onesey, surely???

The pseudo Bushy Park Club does not have specific days, but on the other hand, perhaps we should do, and foster more of a team spirit. Could organise a "something" day. Mince pies certainly next december. Perhaps an easter egg day at the appropriate time. I could load the landing craft with easter eggs (creme) and passing kiddies could pick one off a tank to consume.

I might give it some thought.

That's a good idea Ashley!, An Easter Egg Day, I used to go to an Easter Egg Rally in my Motorcycle days, everyone took an egg and they were all donated to the nearest hospital. (Manchester)

Will bear that in mind for the next years calendar at our club!.

Ashley…..I have to show my ignorance ……What`s a "Onesey?"

We have quite a few special days at the club and it`s really nice meeting a goodly crowd of members on the landing stage……Everybody seems to be in high spirits and full of good beans

In the summer months we have the Lifeboat show……..Help for Hero`s…….The Raft Race…….Summer Regatta…….Commodores Challenge……..The Lady Mayoress attends and in winter, we have the Quiz and Hotpot supper……Club Auction……….Christmas Dinner…….Not forgetting the coach trips to the big exhibitions etc

A really jolly active club with an enthusiastic committee

                Bob,

For your enlightenment, and possibly that of others, a onesey is a one piece zip up coverall in a fleecy material, a bit like an adult version of a babygrow. Our daughter took charge of the Jones' family Christmas celebrations this year and when we stepped into the living room on Christmas morning we all found a bulky parcel on our usual chairs and were instructed that we had to unwrap them, and wear the contents for the rest of the day. Here's a picture of most of the family on their Christmas walk, unfortunately I was behind the camera not in front of it so you will have to imagine my outfit. However if there is enough interest I might be persuaded to put a picture up.

Despite their appearance I have to say that a onesey is quite warm and comfortable. Maybe we should organise a onesey day at the model boat club…….

                  Thank you, Gareth…..I understand now

My outfit was just a gynormous furry hat, which looks like a lion`s mane and if turned upside down, would make a fine Father Christmas beard!………Although a little grey

If you care to post a self portrait of yourself in the Onesey outfit, I`ll try and insert it into your family group and it will be nice to look back on?

                  Happy New Year……..Bob

                  PS…..Your trawler is looking excellent
