Are there plans available to build a Flower class Corvette form balsa?

There are some plans on the shop / plans section on this website. If you need to build in balsa you can probably convert the specified mateirials accordingly. BUT why build in balsa?  I presume you have a good reason, but the superstructure at least would be better if you built it from ply or plastic.

  I’m a big fan of Balsa, but only for suitable models so we would be interested to hear your reasons for wanting to use it.

I’m guessing you’re a fellow-South African? I have a set of plans of HMS Bluebell, perhaps you’d care to contact me – I live in Gauteng. I’ve also built the old Matchbox model of the same vessel, ?30 years ago, which I still have!

I built the Revell / Matchbox styrene kit about 18 months ago.  Had to change a few things and some of the very small details don’t survive the rigours of going sailing but it looks really good on the water and sails faultlessly.  I managed to add gun rotation, smoke and working Aldis lamps to mine.  There are some handy tips on the NET if you do a search.
