I HAVE NEARLY FINISHED BUILDING A PLASTIC HULLED HUNTSMAN, MY PROBLEM IS SHOULD IT HAVE A RUBBING STRIP TO COVER THE JOIN BETWEEN THE DECK AND THE HULL, I WOULD WELCOME ANY INFO. FROM PREVIOUS BUILDERS OF THIS BOAT. THE MANUFACTURES OF THE KIT DO NOT SUPPLY ONE EVEN THOUGH THE FULL SIZE BOATS HAVE ONE.

Have a look at the rubber seals that are fitted into domestic / industrial doors (ebay is a great place to look) I tend to use half round seals for my rubbing strips.

ps writing in CAPITALS is considered to be shouting, but don't ask me why.

                Greetings everybody

I have nearly completed the Huntsman that I have mentioned earlier. Having just fitted the windscreen I notice that some photos on the internet of the Huntsman models have some sort of frame around the windshield does anyone know what is used or where I can obtain the material to make a frame.

All suggestions are most welcome as I am still a complete novice .

                Regards bryan

Some modellers go to great lengths to reproduce this frame in metal. Others use a thick plastic tape or cut out styrene strips. The very first Huntsman prototype had a simple, painted 'frame'. From three feet away you'd never guess it wasn't real.
Here's my (much later) 20" Swordsman with a painted screen frame.

You could use some thin pinstripe tape, the sort that the go faster boys put on their cars.

I have been looking for glam assistants for ages.

How big a glam do you need?? The glams on my Fantome turned out to be 6" PIPPA dolls (identified by the jumper the driver was wearing on the boat box art…this is PETE, Pippa`s boyfriend <snigger snigger&gt of course long out of print, dolls in this size (dolls house dolls are useless)and I managed to find some Pippa copies on Ebay, and then a couple of originals at a toy fair. COULD have cost almost as much as the boat !!!

And don't use Superglue. It will fog the plastic. Use Deluxe Materials RC Modellers Glue instead.

                                          Hello Bryan ,

As Paul and Dave have made two good comments ,

bin the marked screen , give your self a rap on the knuckles ,

and make a new one , first cut a card template to size, on the drawing it shows some fixing tabs

use these to line the screen up do trial fit when happy, cut out a new plastic on to template ,

with tabs dont remove plastic protective film yet, do a test fit , it if happy carry on ,

now just remove film from tabs take your time, using deluxe cockpit glue apply with

a cocktail stick fix front front end tab first a centure line datum ,

when this as dry carry on and fix rear tabs, when it all nice and dry and fine tuned,

remove the protective film , with clean fingers , if you going with screen frame leave on ,

and just remove the small working area , its your choice,….

it is a bit fiddly , but worth it , i would put this model on top of list for a first time scratch

build , i am surprised this not put out as kit,

a very well done to Dave Milourn,

no cad when this was released

so i hope this helps, if not try try again…

                                          ITS WORTH IT Larry ,

                                            Greetings Dave &Larry

I have ordered the Glue recommended by Dave and I will buy some new material for the screen when I find a supplier. I have also used superglue on some of the windows, a disaster , I am now making new ones out of clear styrene and I leave the film on until the superglue has gone off, seems to work., but I will use the proper adhesive when I get it.

This is only the second boat I have constructed, the Sea Commander was more or less scratch built,The Huntsman was a kit, I am not sure what was easier to build, I never realised how fragile Liteply was.

                                                  Greetings all

I have given up trying to obtain Polycarbonate in a 1 m length for a new screen but I have copied a design seen on the web, looks good.

Huntsman is almost finished ,but I have had different opinions on the size of the electric motor required to give a decent performance, any suggestions would be appreciated.
