It's always a nice introduction to our modelling year

In fact, the station it was filmed at, appeared on Michael Portillo`s TV programme, only last week

The café is being refurbished at Ellesmere, at the moment, but there may be a mobile snack wagon

I`m taking a flask and survival kit, just in case

Alas the film isn't Brief Encounter although it is a popular misconception, I watched that programme about Carnforth Railway Station but I have to admit that I always thought Brief Encounter was filmed at Wigan.

For a bonus point would you like to try again and name the film.

Looking forward to getting Brutus and I might be investing in a battery pack or two for it (if the dealers at Ellesmere have them) I need some strip wood as well so I will have my shopping head on.

I'm taking flask, picnic and soft drinks as my survival kit and if its not raining perhaps the portable BBQ and outdoor dining set (chairs, table, umbrella etc)

I should be there around lunch time.

Was it the Only Fools and Horse`s prog, where Del Boy met up with Rachel under the station clock?

Where she said some thing and he replied…..You can go and..??????????? which was drowned out by a loco whistle

She replied………."You realise that would be extra!"

No?…….Didn`t think it was!

Nice reference to Fools and Horses and it is the right clock but the film you are looking for is from 1945 with an impressive cast.

This thread was posted, as a gentle reminder to all our fellow model boat makers in the North West area, that the famous model boat convention at Ellesmere Boat Museum is on again this weekend

The response has been pitiful!

Only five members have made a comment!

Is it because the hobby is dying out?

Is it too early in the season for the elderly model makers, due to the cold weather?

Is it because, model boat builders are generally getting on a bit and can't get on the net without some help from the kids…….Most probably

Is it just plain old apathy?

Etc etc

We have quite a few readers of this post, but hardly any comments

The apathy is not just down to this website…….Our excellent club blog has 140 members and nobody will make a comment……….That definitely is not good enough and very discouraging for the club compiler!

Let's show some interest in the hobby you chaps and make a comment of some sort?

Got a few backs up there….eh?

From down south, you are a lucky lot having a show to go too, much as I would like to attend, Google tells me it's 263 miles from Maidstone and takes 4hrs 10mins, perhaps next year ! Wot about the Silver Mist Rally ?

On a brighter note our boating season kicks off this Saturday at the Chantry MBC at Bluewater Shopping Centre

Steady on! You imparted some useful information i.e. a gentle reminder about a regular show. That was it. Full stop. Nothing sensational. It's only on the lesser forums that a myriad of folk chime in with "Yes, I'll be there! I'm bringing the mother-in-law, the dog, next-door neighbour's kids and a seven-course picnic!!" or similar. This is usually a well-attended show and so I don't suppose that a lack of 'gush' on an Internet forum equates to its imminent demise due to terminal apathy, low temperatures, advancing senility or whatever.

For what it's worth I will not be there. It's because I dislike driving up that end of the country – it's a 215 mile round trip from here – and I don't need to buy anything which won't also be available at the Coalville show. That show, after all, is only at the end of this month and just 25 miles from Nottingham.
