        Hi Jim

Perhaps we should keep in touch as I am building the same boat and only about 3/4 weeks away from the maiden launch, my set is as follows.

        2x Graupner 600 Eco Motors

2×30 amp M troniks speed controllers

2x 8.4 volt 4300 nimah batteries made up from sub C cells

        1x Action Mixer Unit

I have spoken to several people over this and taken a lot of advice the only problem I see is the size of the batteries as most folk told me to use 3200 nimah but using the 4300nimas i am hoping for a longer run time. I may not be able to use full throttle owing to the additional power but the test runs will hopefully give me the answer. I have also been told that the boaut does no reverse very well.

However hope we can keep in touch and swop our ideas

        Cheers for now

        Rodders

Thanks Rodders  for taking the time to answer my question. Here in queensland model boat building is very hard to get good info.on . .Mostly speed boats ,cars, planes, already built. What  radio control do you intend to employ on Drumbeat?just two servos or three?I have yet to purchase this item.Seems in England the demand is much stronger I have at times waited 12 months to get standard stanchions!!So the model I am just completing "Boston Fury" (took 2years)from scratch, but too frustrating to get parts,so I intend to get a kit with all parts included.

          Thanks for your help Jim

            Hi Jim

I intend to run on only 2 channels at first along with 2 servos. I have also purchased from Model Slipway 2 3blade brass props and these look fantastic.

            Futaba Attack 40mhz Transmitter

Then next year will probably increase this to six channels adding lighting, diesel engine sound rotating radar scanner etc

I found Model Slipway very helpful an were very prompt when I ordered parts from them yes I live in the UK and Oz may be a little different

              Thanks Rodders

Getting to the exciting bit now for you.Let me know how the water trials go,maybe a photo? I am at this stage contacting customs to enquire if duty will be payable shipping the kit out to oz from U.K. as no shops here have the kit.

Regards Jim (p.s. my wife and I are Poms, lived in Leeds ,been here 50 years)

I read your posts with interest as I too am now building this boat the Drumbeat of Devon.

I’d be interested in hearing from you about your projects.

I have  also posted photos of the project as it progresses on the web.

                 Cheers,

                Steve in Canada

                  Hi Steve,

I live in Brixham where the Drumbeat is stationed. I could take some pictures for reference if you liked. How is the snow doing this year? My sister says they are getting loads in Ontario.

                  Robert

                    Sorry for butting in Rodders,

But why wait until next year before fitting your lights/radar ? – Much easier to fit now during the build than to "cut in" later.  I know your not getting your extra channels until later but fitting the lights now and connecting them to a micro switch for manual use will enable evening sailings

                    Cheers – Ken

                      Hello Rodders
I am building the Slipway Range Safety Craft. It also is to be powered by 2 Graupner Speed 600 ECO motors. I was going to follow the wring up instructions given by Slipway which show the motors being powered by 1 battery. Your plan to use a battery for each motor is what I would love to do but dont know how. Would it be possible to somehow see a wiring diagram.
                      Kind Regards
                      Geoff

I’ve just this afternoon finished some coloured wiring diagrams for these Model Slipway kits for Jackie White, but the files are in PDF format so I don’t think I can show them here. I’ve tried to save them as JPEGs but there’s no way I can get any decent resolution at 250kB. However, if you guys would like to send me your regular E-mail addresses then I can forward a copy on to you. E-Mail me c/o the ACTion website, OK?
