I would like to manufacture some decals using my home computer and ink jet printer. Via the internet I have found a compnay called Crafty Computer Paper which market a product called Inkjet Lazertran which (if what is claimed is correct) seems to be an ideal product.

Has anyone used this product and can advise regarding its suitability for model boats?

Alternatively has anyone tried any other similar product?

What about similar products but using a lazer printer?

          Hi David,

I've used the waterslide decals from Crafty Computer, They work really well.

I use the ones suitable for an inkjet printer, follow the directions to the letter, or they fall apart.

I can't see why the lazer version wouldn't work just as well.

There are two versions, one for inkjet printers, and one for lazer printers. They are NOT interchangable.

          Hope this helps

          Mick

Like Mick, I have used the inkjet decal paper from Crafty Computer Paper, and found it to give excellent results. The most important step is to seal the finished decal with several coats of clear acrylic lacquer before soaking in water, or you'll end up with an illegible mess. I also give the decal another coat or two once it's in place on the model. The first ones I made are still in good condition after several years of use in salt water.

            Peter.

Like those above I've used them as well, the ink jet ones, and can confirm that if you follow the instructions they work well. Just ask my grandaughter, she has them on her Christmas bike, and they are still in place!

I also have used the lawn cloth for sail making – excellent results, and made my own flags too.

I've also used their wood veneer, again ink jet printable, and after some trial and errors, find this excellent too for some projects, like scroll boards on my thames barge for example.

To avoid waste, fill the page with as many variants as possible, and make copies too in case of damage when fitting or in use.

              Happy modelling, Kimosubby
