Sorry to be a pain but as I live in Deal Kent and know there are clubs both in Dover and Ramsgate, why are they not on your list ?
Having just moved into the area I would like to join one of the said clubs but have no idea how to get in touch with either of them, are you able to help please.
Hope you are able to help.
      Thank you in advance.

        Hi Ted,

Not sure if I’m giving you the right information here, but I think the reason your local clubs are not listed is because they have not contacted the magazine/web site with their details – Vinnie would be the person in the know here. My own club (New Brighton) + our local one (Runcorn) are not listed either.

I also feel the wrong information is being shown in this list – what should be shown is the clubs name (in alphabetical order) and a direct link web page address. You could then look-up a clubs name, click the link and nip to their site to obtain the info required and come back here. The advantage is you can obtain the info anytime you want, without disturbing the contact person shown at 4.oo a.m. !

Finding a club in your area should be easy enough – just Google ‘model boat clubs’

          Hi Ted,

I am a member of the Dover Model boat Association,we sail at Kearsney Abbey Lake and we have a web site http://www.mba-dover.org.uk .There is nearly always someone there on a Sunday morning, we have a thriving go ahead club,I am the Scale Sec and my interests are building from scratch,Tug Towing, Thames Sailing Barges.

Checkout my Gallery to see what I have built.

          Be nice to see you,

          Regards,

          Len.

               Hi there Len,

Thank you for the reply to my mail, I did not know there was a web site for the Dover Club otherwise I would have contacted you direct.

I would like to join but at the moment I am a bit busy with other things, but in a couple of weeks perhaps it would be O.K. if I dropped you a line asking to join.

At the moment I do not have anything to sail as when I moved I sold all I had so as not to bother packing things which were a bit fragile, that included all the radio equipment, so now I have to start from scratch again.

I like to build scale things, anything which floats realy, I did at one time build Aircraft but got tired of going out with a bin bag and getting home with the kit, again, at least with boats they tend to float even when damaged.

I hope this is not too much of a ramble.

              Nice to hear from you.

               ALL THE BEST.

                tED.

              Hi Ted,

If you contact the Secretary he usually sends out an info pack. Address on the website.

Coming up :-  25th Nov Yacht races

                                     2nd Dec Club 500

                                     3rd    "    Xmas Social

                                      9th   "    Yacht races

                                      16th  "    Club 500

                                      23rd   "   Yacht races

During the summer months we hold 6 Regattas with the usual raffles, tea tent etc.

ps, I also started off with planes, made lots but could not get anyone to teach me to fly them so I still have 3 plus 2 Gliders gathering dust if anyone wants to buy them.

              Regards,

              Len

                  Hi Len,

Thank you for the information on  Regattas.

As I have said, I am busy for the next couple of weeks but after that I would like to join even though I have nothing to sail at the moment.

If it is easier for you to mail me direct, my email address is :-

                   tedgoldring@talktalk.net

Sorry you had the same experience as I had with Aircraft, rather disheartening isn’t it, there are a few who fly behind me, normaly on a Sunday, one has a Jet powered model, very impressive but not for me now.

                   All the best.

                  Ted.

The clubs list presented as at 16/11/07 is the MPBA affiliated club list. The MYA list has arrived and is I understand being worked apon, to put on to the website. We had to start somewhere and of course clubs that are not affiliated to these organisations or are in other groups are welcome to submit basic details to the webmaster about their clubs so that this does indeed become a comprehensive national club list.

I understand your problem and thank you for taking the trouble to send me an answer.

Since I contacted the site I have had a reply form a club in Dover, that is close to where I live so I do intend to join in the near future, even though at the moment I do not have anything to sail.  Time will rectify that problem.

Thank you for your time and trouble.

                       Ted Goldring.

I have submited the Runcorn club’s details twice

And also agree about the information which should be shown like you say.
