At a recent bring and buy/ auction at our club I ended up with a fibreglass hull and a couple of drawings for the above cutter.
I’m wondering if any of you guys knows anything about this boat or maybe has built one.
I found a bit of information on Chris Brown and have sent them an e mail.
Are back issues of Model Boat magazine available for December 1998 as I understand there was a review done on this boat in that issue.
Once again, looking forward to your replies.
      Regards
      Mike.

I doubt if you will get a back issue from myHobbyStore as the magazine has passed through several changes of ownership since then but maybe one of our members will be able to locate the review for you.

Many thanks Colin. This looks like a boat that will sail well and hopefully will be another of the winter projects.

I partially built one a few years ago…sadly it had an inherant twist to the rear starboard quarter, and didn’t match up with the port side, facilitating some radical intervention……to be blunt it was mis shapened at the plug state….but if you can get over this, the hul makes into a nice, interior ballasted boat. I also put a motor in mine for auxiliary sailing.
There was a phospher bronze fitting set for the rigging and a set of very nicely sown sails that you could buy as extra’s as well,
Sadly I lost interest after getting to the decking out stage, as sail wasn’t really my thing, But apart from the little prob with the hull it was a very nice semi kit.

I started Cariad some 10 years ago and have now restarted the project. Unfortunately I cannot find the general arrangement drawing and have just started the rigging arrangement.
Is Chris Brown still around and contactable for queries? I still have the relevant Model Boat magazine with the article on construction if anyone wants to know anything from the article.
