Have any of you folks built the HMS Badger kit? I reckon if you have built any Caldercraft Nelsons navy ships you can answer this question as they all seem to be the same type of construction. The problem I have is the first planking. I have sanded down the stern section aft of the bearding line so as to make the planking terminate at the same with (5mm) stern post. (second planking as well).
But I cannot find any pictures of info in the instructions as to terminating on the bottom of the keel. There is a ply false keel and a walnut bottom keel but where do I terminate? Do I terminate at bottom of the bulkheads or the bottom of the walnut keel?
The reason I am having difficulty with this that on real ships I understand they used to have a rabbett, thus the bottom plank set in flush with the keel. If I plank to the bottom of the false keel I will have a lip.
Any help appreciated.
