Had a very long lay off from model boats. and I was very active in fast ic and large scale/semi scale models. Loved the offshore scene and my late boating buddy Ron and son took two championships, then Ron passed away. But I wish to return to power boats but it seems that no one runs ic boats now, is this true ? or am I looking in the wrong place.

          Hi David,

Unfortunately we don't know which part of the country you are in. I.c. as a form of power is very much in a minority nowadays for various reasons, however there are still a few lakes and clubs which are still active in this part of the hobby.

If you buy Model Boats magazine there is a regular item, BMPRS News, which covers the racing section of the hobby, mainly around Nottingham and the Midlands.

It would be worth checking the MPBA website and perhaps contacting them to find a club in your area who would be active in the racing or offshore.

Hope this helps, and welcome back to the hobby.

Thanks for the reply Tony,I live near Bournemouth, and it often seems like people sail the full size and not models here.I will check on the mag though but my past experience was not good as back in 1982 I gained a speed record for outboard 3.5cc tunnel hulls at 30.25mph and still have a hand written note from John Bright,Records Officer at that time, but reading an 1994 Model Boats mag, I noted that the new list at that time does not include my name or the actual speed obtained. Guess I must have upset someone. Never mind I will continue with my large petrol powered models.

            Thanks

            Regards
