      Hi All

I have decided to build another one. Goblin is finished, just need to try her at bushey park. But I have found a plan for the Bold pursuer, which is a fast patrol boat. Seems easy enough to build, but I am having trouble with my hull sides.

The plan calls for the forward section to be done in two bits as it is a very narrow shape. I have pinned the first section and allowed to set, but when I tried to bend it around the shaped bow it split and pulled itself free.

Is there a way to make 3mm lite ply more malleable. The grain is set to run up and down so should be easy, but obviously not.

      any assistance greatly appreciated.

      Regards

      Andy

          Hi Andy

You could try steaming the pieces before fitting.

            Thanks Paul.

That might work. I am guessing you just hold the ply over the steam for a while and then bend and pin it.

Had a look at the instructions that came in the magazine (not this one) and it actually said they were using balsa sheet not ply. Oh well, I had ply in stock so thought it would be OK to use.

            Cheers

You can hold it over the steam or make a little steam chest out of a piece of copper pipe (saves burning your fingers) I use a wallpaper steamer to generate the steam.
