As a matter of fact…….the spindle bearings are too sloppy for fine work.

A new set of bearings from Myford were so expensive…….I bought a brand new Chinese lathe for the same price practically. It`s not as chunky as the Myford…but is perfect for model boat requirements…with all the nice features…….2500 rpm…down to 50 rpm at the turn of a switch.

I was the founder member of Runcorn & District SMB, But I left some11 years ago, I founded North Cheshire Marine Fine Scale Association but after many years some members drifted away due to ill health and one died, it left just me.

My good friend Dave Wooley  had just created The Ship Modelling Society and asked me to join  them, which I did, we meet every 2 months at the Boat Museum, 22- 30 of us.

Bob, we are a mixed society, static builders , dioramers, and r/c , there are only 7 of us that build r/c, we do invite guests along but we mainly talk about what we are building, some times a guest speaker.

We are doing a show at Birchwood , Warrington, on August bank holiday Sat & Sunday, you could be my guest for the day and meet some of us old guys, we will be sailing on the lake.
