The boat is powered by( 2) 3300mAh 7.2v NIMH RAC Sport battries what size solar panels would I need to do the job.

Thanks will have a look. the battries have a tamiya connector on is it as simple as pluging stright onto the panel via the connector. Sorry to ask i know um thick lol.

The PT7.2-150 panel output is on 2 wires – you have to attach(solder) the wires from the Tamiya mating connector to the wires on the panel. You will have to consult your battery manufacturer's datasheet as to the maximum permissible "trickle" charging current. If the solar panel current is greater than the maximum permissible "trickle" current you will need to control the charging rate somehow – I believe that Select Solar could advise you about that. As a minimum you would need a diode to prevent reverse current flow.

Here is an example datasheet for a NiMH battery pack (not your battery pack though) :

**LINK** – it says trickle charge current must not exceed 100 mA

Thanks Ian for your time will give select solar a call.
