      hi all

as a way of introduction, I am a retired maintenance fitter been a modeler for years and need to keep fingers and brain working so what better than boats.

got a couple to finnish off, two repairs and 'culpea' on the 'slipway' but having fun at the moment with this one. a present from santa. its a metal works laser cut kit. the parts are small but fit well. the only problem…. I will need spec savers after this.

Dave. Nice to see another chap joining the happy cadre that is model boating.

Dont forget to post pictures of your builds on the jolly old website.

Use one of those stand mounted large magnifying glass/light affairs.. makes the little bits much easier.

Did a Titanic a while back, not as many small bits on it as a kit no doubt, but less to break off at the pond side! Do we assume yours will be pond capable, or just a static?

Just Googled it and if it is the one on Amazon I found, it is 3" long so it would have to be a very calm day !

                hi ashley

                thanks for the welcome.

this titanic is a static model as described by trevor not for sailing just a bit of clean modeling no dust so can be done whilst swmbo watches tele.

tried to post pics but cant seem to get them to load up. will keep trying though.

                  Hello Dave43

Posting pictures can be a bit of a mystery at first!

There are instructions in the FAQ section, but to set you off in the right direction….

Photos should be 1000 pixels wide and JPEG format

Create an album……Give it a name and load your pix into the album

Load photos into the forum thread from your album

                  Best of luck…….Bob

The kit looks interesting?…….How long is it and have you made a start yet?

What material is it made from…….metal?

                      Bob

thanks bob its made of steel about 15 thou, laser cut and press out, hardest part is bending over the locking tabs. its now finnished took about 12 hours and plenty of that was made up with making tools( grinding small tweezers, knitting needles and a crochet hook.)

Wow, thats quite a good model considering it is made from tabbed sheet steel and only a few inches long ! Its a bit like a card model but in steel. I thought it would have been in brass, but I suppose there may have been issues with bending that.

yes quite satisfying, everything fitted and bent to shape got to marvel at the precision of the thing

looks good at side of trawler and doesnt grab the dust as the trawler does
