Dave Milbourn, who is a frequent contributor to this Forum, has announced that is well known ACTion R/C Electronics business has been sold to the Component Shop who have also developed an excellent reputation for service to the modelling community.

Under Dave & Liz's management, ACTion have built up an unrivalled reputation for quality of product and personal service. Dave's wiring diagrams, available to view on the ACTion Website, have proved a life saver to many boat modellers wondering how to wire up the components in their boats without letting out the dreaded blue smoke!

Many of our members will know Dave personally as well as from purchasing his products and I'm sure you will be happy to join me in wishing him and Liz a peaceful second retirement enabling them to concentrate more on their leisure interests. In the meantime it would seem that the ACTion range is in good hands and we can still look forward to seeing Dave around the shows.

The full text of Dave's announcement is shown below.

      Colin

      ************************************

Dave and Liz Milbourn are retiring from the model business with effect from 1 December 2012. Many will remember that they took over the business in 2007 when Craig Talbot, who started ACTion, became too ill to carry on. Since then they have taken the business to new levels with the introduction of fifteen new electronic units, including the unique P94 Dual ESC/Mixer and the highly-praised P100 Noisy Thing digital sound system. Dave says that they couldn’t have achieved this success without the clever design-work of Dr Tim Fawcett to whom he and Liz wish to express their special thanks.

They are happy now to pass on the custody of ACTion R/C Electronics to their good friends Iain and Natasha Lewis, who will continue to supply all current ACTion products as part of their well-known Component Shop business. Iain has plans to introduce on-line buying for ACTion goods as well as adding many new items to its catalogue, so the brand looks set to go from strength to strength. Dave will remain in the background for the time being, very much on a part-time basis, to assist with technical enquiries and also to help out at the many shows which Component Shop attends.

All correspondence for ACTion after 30 November should be sent c/o Component Shop by E-Mail (orders@component-shop.co.uk) or telephone (0843 2898528 or Mobile 0782 5511877) The business address is 1 Llwyn Bleddyn, Llanllechid, Bangor, LL57 3EF. Please don’t use the old Nottingham address or telephone number as this will only delay processing orders or replying to questions. The ACTion website will continue for the present at http://www.action-electronics.co.uk. Full details of all ACTion products and many full-colour wiring diagrams can be found there.

Dave and Liz would like to thank all of the folk world-wide with whom they have dealt in the last 5 ½ years for their custom and their loyalty. Liz will now be able to spend more time in her garden and Dave is looking forward to building model boats again!

Will see you both at Warwick, as usual – shall I bring some corn as well, I know how hungry chickens can get! I'm wondering who'll sort out my soldering mistakes in the future?

Good luck to you both, Kim.
