      Hi,

I am building the Vic Smeed Vosper RTTL plan 530, but I am building it 50% lager than the plan.

This represents an overall length of approximately 49 inches, with a beam of approximately 14 inches.

The plan recommends twin Taycol Meteors motors (which I have!), can anyone suggest suitable modern brushless motors, bearing in mind the 50% in size.

      Many thanks for any suggestions.

      Mark

Hello Mark, just joined the group after some time away. I assume you may have finished the RTTL? I was just going to add I built one a couple of years ago which ended up to be 68 inches long with 2 large brushless motors(totally over powered). If you would like to now more please reply. I do not know how this forum will notify me of anything being added.

            Hi Mark

What size are the props so we can give you an answer??

I think they are 3 blade props for a start.

Note brushless motors are far more powerful than the brush motors.

Hi, I used two turnigy Aquar start which can be wired in star or delta. the problem came from the esc which would need to be 200amp to cope with delta. I left them in star and with 150amp esc and putting a 40mm prop reduced the current load to one which worked very well. I even had to reduce the control throw on the tx to 75%. If you want to see this, there is a video on Oxfordmodelboatclub website.
