I'm getting back into modelling after many years and now have the
patience and maturity (I hope!) to tackle the real detailing in painting
and weathering that I had previously lacked the time and patience. I propose to start with a 1/35 scale MTB by Italeri which I propose to detail to a high degree (initially as a diorama with Italeri docks and scratchbuilt baseboard water effect) but which I may later on choose to convert to r/c. Or not…!
I have noted that the kit includes a small number of photo-etched parts
in addition to fairly good quality detail in the moldings themselves.
Now I also see that Griffon do both a basic and a bonus set of photo-etchings for a significant additional cost.
I guess I have two questions;
Firstly, if I choose not to go with aftermarket photoetched kits will it
be possible to upgrade the model to include them at a later date, knowing that I will need to cut and file back some plastic bits and also do a bit of repainting?
Secondly does the addition of an aftermarket P/E set make a big
difference to begin with? If so can anyone suggest any web addresses I
could visit to see such a difference?
Cheers, Mark
