        Hello Phil

It`s a fine looking monster all right!

Does the builder intend making use of it somewhere…..Boat?…Car?…..Loco?

Think a 7 1/4″ gauge Diesel loco might be a possibility?

Afraid  Not Paul and in answer to your question Bob It appears that he simply loves the engineering challenge of making motors that work. he’s never made any for commision as far as I could tell and the quoted price was as a result of a discussion on what in theory it would cost in materials and man hours to create and that was only pricing his time at £10 / hour so I’m afraid the search continues

Its looking good bob! Did you buy that wheel or make it? I need to make one very similar for the Home wood landing and am wondering if iI should try bending some bamboo or use a router bit in the dremel to make a circle from mahogany or similar wood. I can see serious difficulties with both methods. it only needs to be about 1 1/2 inches across.

I`m still making the steering wheel………I`ve used two pieces of 1/8″ ply,  cross grain glued and turned on the lathe………the centre spokey bit, is 1/16″ ali…..very carefully cut out and filed…………..It needs to look the bizz!
I`m hoping to buy some nice dials for the dash from somewhere?
The wheel is 3 1/2″ diam…………………..But …1 1/2″ diam can be found in the model shops

Making a pair of aggressive looking exhaust pipes at the moment

Plenty of room where the plane is to fit a nice smelly petrol engine and then you could put those exhausts to proper use.

A smelly petrol engine would be the less expensive option………I like the idea of oodles of power and noise etc…………….Wonder why nobody from the Runcorn club have made a comment about this subject?

It is strange that so few club members, including Etherow, contribute to this forum?

It could be that the model boat hobby attracts the elderly end of modellers and they are afraid of the net?………………..I know quite a few “scardie cats” in our club

My feelings precisely on both the smelly noise making propulsion and the web virgins within the model boating fraternity. I get the feeling that a certain other forum gets the lions share of users but then I believe they have been around a bit longer than this wonderfull site (grovel grovel hope bish is watching ) by the way nice to see the steady progress on the slo mo Bob keep it up

Just seen your post on pauls barrel back thread Bob try googling nantwich veneers I’ve found them helpfull and pretty good quality. I use a spray contact adhesive and a wall paper seam roller to get it flat . usefull if you cant press the veneers while a more conventional pva sets. Hope that helps

The first ever version of the design (which is what your model is based on) had a very pointed bow but later versions had developed into a true curve.

Just have a look at that mighty engine (where do they keep the Nicads)

For £150 I could buy a whole load of super IC engines and bits that would make your little model fly (quite literally)

Five publications and no money……….sounds like the deal that our Colin is on……
Didn’t you get the full world rights deal when you sent your stuff into Mr Freshney (the one that pays LOADS A MONEY)

You might like to visit my island one day…….just drive down the A55 towards Bangor and its on the right….you can’t miss it……it even has a little bridge to connect it to the mainland.
