Not enough hair to use that product in fact I would be better of with a paint brush and a can of blackboard paint.

                  Hello Len

Thanks for solving our collective curiosity……but what is the light house made out of and does the light really work?

With regard to the gallery photo I’m not shy I just prefer to be cautious.

Can’t buy "Blackboard" paint now days Paul …

the politically correct brigade have banned "Blackboards" they are now known as "Chalk boards"

                    Cheers – Ken

Don’t be daft. As a teacher, we still have blackboards, although most have been replaced with interactive whiteboards. I never knew anybody call them chalkboards……politically correct people or otherwise.

True Vinnie – and as you say a lot of schools/colleges moved over to the white boards (have one myself in the workroom) but some now regret the change over, as the pens were forever running dry and so much dearer than the old chalk – and you can’t throw the pens at the kids ! – (bet you’ve chucked a few end pieces of chalk !) for fear of injuring them and being sued ! – bring back the good? old days when a spade was a spade and not an earth removal tool !

Next time your out and about have a look for blackboard paint – B&Q used to sell it, small yellow tin with a picture of a blackboard on it, but think its now just matt black paint…

OK – change that, just done a web search and some firms ARE making a blackboard paint.  Found 4 selling it – 2 calling it chalk board paint and 2 call it just matt black – Dulux don’t list it either. B&Qs site is down.

                          Ken

Didn’t know you were a teacher Vinnie – teach anything interesting ?

                              Hi Vinnie

Now I understand why they call you teacher……I thought it related to your love of a certain whisky.

Teaching particle acceleration and the theory of nuclear fission to kids in Toxteth???? very brave but surely by its very nature it must bend (or break) most of the terrorism laws.

Still you must have enjoyed all the holidays and short working days.

Oh Vinnie you will have us crying.

We have all been outside a school at home time and witnessed the scrum as the teachers trample the kids to get out first. After all starting at 9 and finishing at 3.30 is a very long day and not to mention those long coffee and lunch breaks.

                                  How many weeks paid holiday

Still, on the bright side you have now managed to find a job that involves even less work.

A little bit of liquid nitrogen would do the trick (or a decent bottle of Merlot)

Not sure of that one.  My wife went to Dingle Vale while I went to Granby Street, my brothers (lucky s*ds) went to Wellington Road.

Just had a word with the boss and she tells me Shorefields was an amalgamation of Dingle Vale & Wellington road, but well after she left.  Shed any light on that Vin (Sir) ?

Yep, it certainly was.  It was Ringo’s old school, he actually paid the school as visit during the Capital of Culture build up earlier this year.  The rumour was that we had an old desk with his name scratched in somewhere, but we never found it.  I think one of the old headteachers put it on Ebay!

Ask her if she recognizes this pic, and see if she remembers names of any old teachers?  What was her year?  I have some very old class pictures from the early 70’s.

                                                  Paul,

The lighthouse is made from a white plastic contact lens liquid container ( Bum another secret gone! ) with red insulation tape stripes, the top is a 35mm film canister and the base is a slab of polystyrene with horticultural grit sprinkled on to wet PVA glue. No the light does not work.

                                                  Regards,

                                                      Hi Len

Nice work on the lighthouse it looks very effective, is it moored in position or do you let it drift about and be a hazard to shipping?

Perhaps an explanation regarding the off course chat about school, I started by ribbing good old Vinnie about being a former teacher little realising where he had worked, being a southerner you might not know that Toxteth is one of the toughest areas of Liverpool so teaching there takes some nerve. But sometimes running these sites and dealing with us he must think that he has jumped out of the pan and into the fire.

Still at least the hours are better…..eh Vinnie?
