      Hi Bob,

Thanks for pointing me to your Louis Heloise pics. I am interested in how you built the hull. What timber did you use for the planking.

I have not got to the point of sailing. Are you using any radion control?  If so what?

I noticed you added an extra keel, why did you make it an adjustible pantograph?

Jolie Brise is my first scratch model boat. Before children my brother and I built two full size sailing boats 27 and 38ft. I liked the making but not the sailing.

        Hello Tony

The planking was made from Obechi……a very light wood and the keel was from Mahogany

The keel was made adjustable for the initial sailing tests and then never adjusted again……I didn`t need to calculate anything!

Another reason for the loose keel was that all the lead which was inboard and extremely heavy was taken out and can now the model can be transported without the lead.

It is radio controlled, with a  sail winch, small prop motor, rudder control and a bilge pump

        Cheers  Bob

          Hi Bob,

          Thanks for that info.

Where did you get the Obechi from?

Did your sail winch just control the main and what size?

          Regards Tony

            Hello Tony

The Obechi came from a local woodyard. it was a 6 x 4 x 72 chunk of wood, which I sawed up myself.

The winch is standard Hitec with sprockets driving a chain. All the sails were attached to the chain.

I discovered that for simple sailing on the pond, the winch isn`t really necessary as it also has a motor to bring the boat into the wind .
