          Hi Charlie

The white pipe is plumbing overflow pipe this is a link to the screwfix stock **LINK** but it is available at almost every DIY shop, for your size of model I would advise the 22mm dia tube (sometimes 21.5mm)

I prefer a plywood profile with wheels

You can push it about the car park….Launch the boat…….And retrieve it too

              Charlie,

This is the cradle I use made from ply and dowel. It's very light and rigid and the boat on it is 36'' long and weighs 25lb. I find it invaluable. Give me a shout if you need more details. Ian

I have seen Ian`s style of cradle and think that this is the way to go. Plastic pipework as very flexible and wobbly, and likely more expensive to make than the wooden variety, Personal opinion.

I am young and muscular and hitherto have not needed any lifting things. Colin has shown the way of course when he visited our pond , but not everyone can afford young nubile boat launchers.

Ian, do you have a handwarmer in the carrying handle for cold days?? wink 2

Ashley, these cradles are certainly rigid and the friend who designed it has made a much posher one with varnished wood and polished brass ferrules- and his comes to bits for transport. I don't think it occurred to any of us to instal hand warmers in the handle- but I expect with little wheels on they could double up as a zimmer frame. I'm not quite at that stage yet though!

Thanks John- yours looks as though it does have hand warmers! I'm going to put a bell on mine.

John appears to have gone one better with the cradle by colour co-ordinating it!!

ALTHOUGH it could be argued that the plain shiny varnished one ALSO matches the boat in it..
