4 or 5 coats (I’ve lost count!) of gloss blue applied to the hull bottom and the masking tape removed whilst still wet. Paint lines were pretty good in the main, apart from some bleeding at the junction of the strakes and chines due to difficulty with getting the making nice and tight. With hindsight I should have left a small gap between them. I have the same problem with the Swordsman but at least the strakes are bigger and I shall be more careful. Managed to get it off OK carefully using a craft knife.
I really have a love/hate relationship with painting. I love that I’m getting some paint on but get frustrated (particularly with hand painting) because of the dust etc. that settles on it and spoils the finish, especially with darker colours. Grrr! Other aspects of building are under control but not so painting. Use good quality paint and brushes but you are then at the whim of outside influences unless you’ve got a proper booth with extraction. I know some folks use the bathroom!
Anyway I want to get it on the water so I’m leaving it there – and also get on with the others. Maybe try cutting it back and polishing it later once the paint has hardened off?
I’ve got a cardboard box to fit over the smaller models but not this one. Will have to sort something out for the bigger ones.
