I`m very interested to know their immediate reaction to your sailing plans and I would speak to them before you progress with the IC version………you never know?

As a matter of courtesy I will email the club secretary to inform them of my intentions I will also include a copy of the health & safety documentation that they can review and make any comments.

 

The last thing that I want to do is cause conflict or to antagonise other lake users.

 

The problem with the text is down to my new laptop, I have bought this super high spec machine to cope with the CAD programmes that I use but it seems to dislike copying text into the site from word.

I cannot understand the animosity between IC and electric scale boats and boaters, honestly I can’t.

 

I was brought up sailinf at fleetwood where ALL are allowed, and only the other day, ( last tuesday morning I went down with my lifeboat to sail. there were three guys down the lake sailing some beautiful aerokit models on the lake, inc. a sea queen ans an ASR crash tender…I just sailed on anopther part of the lake, and to say the sound of their engines on full song was gloroius was not an exageration.

the only thing I can’t get on with with IC is that they don’t have reverse very often,

but come on up here, Paul…..you can sail your barrel back any time.

If Fleetwood was a little closer I would sail there all the time as the lakes are nice and long….just great for opening up the taps on large IC models.

What do you need reverse for?

To please the less objective members of our little society I have purchased a figure to sit at the controls of the barrel back.

It took some time to track down a figure that is the correct scale and anatomically perfect, unfortunately it is in the USA and so wont arrive for a few days but when it lands I will post a couple of photos so that you can see that it defiantly does not look like a doll.

Oh yes, Jane was involved in the process and does approve the choice of figure her only comment was that, as you have been so keen to put a figure in the boat that it should have a hat like yours.

But what you may have overlooked is………………..you could have found a “Fat Controller” model for your Barrel Back…………………that would have been more icing on the cake!

I didnt mention the “specification” of my driver and George is a name used by both genders.

The figure will remain, for want of a better word, blank and it will be upto the viewer to make the distinction.

 

However the addition of a cap like yours might help the undecided.

They also do an 8in version that might suit your boat, the figures could also be used for water skiers being fixed to the back of the boat via a stiff wire.

Paul. Good shape to the driver.  A great figure and it should be relatively easy now to add a few layers of something to bulk it out slightly and give it a bit of colour?? or are you going to varnish it a dozen times ?  I must confess its not what I expected (neutral comment),but definitely gets away from the “doll” syndrome. How will you get the water round the cooling pipe………Rudder scoop or what?

 

Just curious, never used a cooling pipe, but I think my Slo Mo will need one

If I can  find it again Bob I saw an Ideal scoop for the slo-mo on here somewhere very slimline but efficient as the exit is imiediatly behind the intake and so it sucks the water out as well as it being pushed in
