A case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand was doing? It's a bit like the far side of the moon, nobody knew what it looked like until they sent a satellite round it. Come to think of it, the far side of the moon was smoother than the nearside….

          Strange you say that, Colin

I was going to call the photo…….The dark side of the Moon originally

No doubt, there will be a good selection of more authentic port holes at the show?

What a novel approach, Bob! And as you are going to paint each side differently there is still hope of a nice, classic white topside?smiley

Blimey, Ian, I was only joking about the different colour option!

Will have to give the matter some thought now

Of course, I realised that Bob and was only pulling your leg! It's nice to see some posts about your Silver Mist again. Things seemed to have slowed down- but I can't talk- I haven't turned a wheel for months now.

Stick with your green- we all love it really!

                      Bob,

Must agree with Ian, the green looks an excellent colour choice.

Meant to mention in the other thread about Amos's giant Destroyer, never seen the model, the last time I spoke to him he was only planning the model, then I heard a rumour that he had moved to Spain.

Sorry to here that Amos has moved to Spain

We saw his Destroyer at Haydock last year and was a bold project

We had a really nice day out at the Warwick Show yesterday

As expected, 2BA props were unavailable……..No problem though, found a suitable prop with a through hole, that could be easily modified

A few pictures to please the build thread followers……Met quite a few avid readers of the thread at the show, and was nice having a chat about this and that

                          Pictures…

Set up in chuck…Drill the prop…Tap out 2ba…Fit to prop shaft

Also had to turn the O/dia down to clear the rudder bar

No not this year, we are going through the grandchildren phase, I had 2 grandsons in the workshop making semi lethal weapons, but its phase they are going through they also like setting fire to things

                                    Nice prop !

Bob – No panic. For this kind of challenges mankind invented a stuff named "Locktite"

Comes in several different flavours, including one that comes loose on some deliberate force, or the appliance of some subtle heat.

Combine that with a nut tightened firmly against the hub and your prop should stay in place nicely, even with violently applied throttle.

Nice prop, though, it definately looks the part!

I know of Loctite, but don't like the idea of the difficult process of removal

I shall go for the simple locknut and hope for the best…..Afterall, I've still got the original sheet brass version in the toolbox

                                          Bob,

As well as the locknut, stick a bit of contact glue such as UHU on the end of the shaft before screwing on the prop. It locks it to some extent but not so much that you can't get it off easily. Alternatively there are different grades of Loctite with various degrees of grab.

Loctite 222 is made specifically for small screws and so on, I would not use the ordinary Loctite as sold widely in DIY shops as this is VERY difficult to separate afterward…

I have never found paint. soft glue or anything similar to be effective on threads…I would think superglue or epoxy would do it, but be too permanent.

I would not have thought there would be an issue of the prop undoing as long as the locknut is tight?

The separable locktite Ashley is suggesting should do the trick, although I'd always combine it with a locknut just to be sure.

                                                    Should come apart on request.

                                                      Dear Santa Bob

For Christmas I would like a pair of Graupner 600 eco motors, an 8×4 sheet of 1.5mm aircraft plywood, a Paslode IM350 and a 56 gallon drum of resin.

Following last years unpleasant incident with the pigeon and poker I have cleared the grate and had the chimney swept.

I cant claim to be nice but I haven't been naughty since November.
