GEORGE STEENSON’S model
George is from Markham, Ontario in Canada and has been a subscriber and reader of MB for some time.
His latest model as pictured here was totally scratch built from drawings and the original craft served with the Royal Canadian Navy in WW2. What is perhaps different about this model is its size, as it is eight feet long and weighs all of 80lbs (36kg)! The hull is plank on frame using white pine, covered with GRP and rubbed down before painting. Propulsion is by two 12v motors and all the lights function. The model had her maiden voyage in the summer of 2011 and was awarded ‘Modeller’s Choice’ at the annual Fun Float in Bobcaygeon, Ontario.
