      Hi chaps
just starting a new build from a Vic Smeed plan and wondered where I might find deck details such as inside the cockpit etc. I know I’ve got some work to do before I get there but you know, curiosity !!! any help would be great.
cheers , Peter King (Paintpotpete )

          Hi Peter,

I think there were quite a variety of Liverpool types. The last of them was Grace Darling which is preserved in the lifeboat museum at Chatham Dockyard.

Here are a couple of pics I took last year, no interior detail I’m afraid though.

Well, Here we go. Just made the plug for the cockpit. Will be planking this with 1/16 balsa strip and covering with diagonal planking to finish. Just a thought, any of you guys out there know what the original wood was used on full size lifeboat.
                            cheers Peter

Thanks Neil, I guess the easiest way will be to diagonal plank in a light wood and stain it teak, will let you know how it goes, many thanks, Peter

they were planked from a centre line king plank, pete which formed a backbone of the cabin
.these two boats were planked differently to the 45′ and 51′ watson and barnett class which were planked diagonally from one side to the other,
hope this helps…….if i haven’t explained it too well, send me a pm with your email address and i’ll draw a diagramn to explain what i mean.
                                  neil,
