I am a Print+Digital Subscriber trying to open up back issues. I can go back to March 2019, clicking on the image loads the magazine. For February 2019 and earlier the issues fail to load. Tried both Android Tablet and Android Phone, same result.

Hello Leonard

When did your digital subscription begin?

Leonard,

Also who did you order the subscription with?

Only subs bought directly from this website give access to the digital archive. See Q&A below.

Colin

Q: Who is entitled to access the Online Archive?

A: The Online Archive is available to all Digital and Print + Digital Subscribers that have signed up directly via our website (secureorder.co.uk). Access to this archive is only available with subscriptions purchased directly via ourselves because we require a subscription number in order to automatically enable your access. If you purchase from a third party seller (e.g. PocketMags, Apple, Google Play, Amazon) you will not have the required subscription number and so will not be able to access the archive.

I have been a P+D Subscriber for 2 years, first print copy was January 2018. Purchased by my daughter as a Christmas present December 2017. Renewal purchased December 2018 by same daughter. As I can open up back to March 2019 this would suggest that the current subscription complies with Colin's T&C's.

Still leaves the question why March 2019 and not January 2019?

Information given by Colin is really useful as I shall have to ensure that the next renewal is compliant. I have a ten digit subscription number which, as far as I can tell, has not changed since the start.

I finally solved the download problem. When I clicked on the earlier editions I was presented with the message 'Download Flash Player V9'. As I am not a fan of keep downloading such files I ignored it. However by clicking on the upgrade the edition is opened on the screen. It is necessary to do this for each edition from February 2019 backwards.

Colin,

Flash player is 'End-of-life' in 2020 (next year). Will the digital editions be converted to an alternative reader ?

I don't know Alan, I don't work directly for MTM. I believe the digital archive viewer is third party software so I imagine there will be arrangements put in place to maintain the facility.

Make your own contribution to the Website

We welcome well written contributions from Website members on almost any aspect of Model Boating with a particular emphasis on practical hints, tips, experience and builds.

In order to maintain a consistent standard and format, all suggestions should first be sent to me by Personal Message for approval in principle. Only a very limited amount of time is available for editing contributions into a suitable format for placing on the website so it is important that the material is well presented, lucid and free from obvious spelling errors. I think it goes without saying that contributions should be illustrated by appropriate photos. I shall be happy to give advice on this.

The Member Contribution area offers space for short informative mini articles which would not normally find a place in Model Boats magazine. It is an opportunity for Website Members to freely share their  expertise and experience but I am afraid that virtue is its own reward as there is no budget to offer more material recompense!

I look forward to receiving your suggestions.
