Steve,

I was going to recommend the Model Ship World forum (**LINK**), but I see now that you already posted the same question there; it's not that you mightn't get help here -- you never know -- but you are much more likely to get it over there, as to my knowledge it is one of the main fora for period men-of-war models, whereas discussions here in general are more about the r/c side of boat modelling. Not that static models or period MoW are off-topic in anyway, but they don't tend to turn up all that often in the threads here.

On a closer look I also see that you did indeed get links to three build logs over on MSW ...

If you haven' t found the build log on MSW, the most detailed build of Caldercraft/Jokita HMS Mars can be found in the Model Boats Winter 2007 Kit Special. Written by (the late) Keith Julier, who was one of the top builders (and writers) regarding this type of model.

We welcome well written contributions from Website members on almost any aspect of Model Boating with a particular emphasis on practical hints, tips, experience and builds.

In order to maintain a consistent standard and format, all suggestions should first be sent to me by Personal Message for approval in principle. Only a very limited amount of time is available for editing contributions into a suitable format for placing on the website so it is important that the material is well presented, lucid and free from obvious spelling errors. I think it goes without saying that contributions should be illustrated by appropriate photos. I shall be happy to give advice on this.

The Member Contribution area offers space for short informative mini articles which would not normally find a place in Model Boats magazine. It is an opportunity for Website Members to freely share their  expertise and experience but I am afraid that virtue is its own reward as there is no budget to offer more material recompense!

I look forward to receiving your suggestions.
