An absolutely stunning model, Bob! Not that that is in any way surprising, given that it is by you, but it still deserves to be said!

Simply splendid, Bob

Is it of any interest, to suggest a sailing ship, alongside a jetty with sails furled......on a glassy sea?

Just an idea

Well, I have often thought about it, bute not so far got round to building one, probably because it would require the development of more skills such as making buildings etc, and would also increase the size of the model. I have built two or three dioramas, but not involving wharfs or buildings. Example below, Skeleton Coast Shipwreck, I may get round to one some day, because the idea does appeal, but it keeps getting put off!

I prefer the clippers to the big multi master sailing ships used for nitrates etc. The clippers look much more attractive and better proportioned and I think Wairoa must be one of your best Bob. Is she going to a new home?

I like both types equally, it just depends on how I am feeling as to what I build next. Someone has their eye on this one, but I don't mind if it stays around for a while, as I quite like it myself.

Hello Bob

What are your comments on this strange sail set up?

It's almost a yacht at the stern?

Bob,

To me that looks like a normal, three-masted barque; it might just be because the spanker hasn't been set that it has a slightly unusual look to it ... ?!

Hi Banjo

I think the jibby looking sail, in front of the spanker is the unusual feature?

It almost has the look of a Dhow, as seen on the Nile?

We welcome well written contributions from Website members on almost any aspect of Model Boating with a particular emphasis on practical hints, tips, experience and builds.

In order to maintain a consistent standard and format, all suggestions should first be sent to me by Personal Message for approval in principle. Only a very limited amount of time is available for editing contributions into a suitable format for placing on the website so it is important that the material is well presented, lucid and free from obvious spelling errors. I think it goes without saying that contributions should be illustrated by appropriate photos. I shall be happy to give advice on this.

The Member Contribution area offers space for short informative mini articles which would not normally find a place in Model Boats magazine. It is an opportunity for Website Members to freely share their  expertise and experience but I am afraid that virtue is its own reward as there is no budget to offer more material recompense!

I look forward to receiving your suggestions.
