Thread: Trouble uploading?
23/01/2009 06:52:37
Sorry but is anyone else having trouble uploading pictures to this site, or is it just me being a newbie?  Every time I try to upload a picture lately  the site just "hangs" and I stare at the hourglass for minutes until giving up!
I'm reasonably computer literate, this happens on both my desktop and laptop, and all my other sites are responding!
Any one else having this problemm?

Thread: Electric Motor Overheating
18/01/2009 11:19:45
Hi Kevin
I've used both cooling fans and heatsinks and they do help to a limited degree.
The real question is WHY are the motors overheating?  Usually it's because there's friction somewhere in the drivetrain, motors and shafts misaligned possibly?
Another possibility - the props you're  using are too large for the motors-experiment with smaller props and see if that helps.
Hope this helps a bit.

Hi All
I'm a newbie to this site- please forgive any mistakes!
Have just completed a scratch built voith propelled tug and posted pictures in an album titled "Seleni". The model is based on the tug that I drive in CapeTown and I used the original builders plans scaled down to 1:32.
Hope to be able  to upload some more pictures of the other models I've completed.
Regards -Pierre

Make your own contribution to the Website

We welcome well written contributions from Website members on almost any aspect of Model Boating with a particular emphasis on practical hints, tips, experience and builds.

In order to maintain a consistent standard and format, all suggestions should first be sent to me by Personal Message for approval in principle. Only a very limited amount of time is available for editing contributions into a suitable format for placing on the website so it is important that the material is well presented, lucid and free from obvious spelling errors. I think it goes without saying that contributions should be illustrated by appropriate photos. I shall be happy to give advice on this.

The Member Contribution area offers space for short informative mini articles which would not normally find a place in Model Boats magazine. It is an opportunity for Website Members to freely share their  expertise and experience but I am afraid that virtue is its own reward as there is no budget to offer more material recompense!

I look forward to receiving your suggestions.
