I used Wilko primer for or my starlet yacht- great at filling, dried quickly, and sanded easily! Cheap too.

Looking pucka ray

They are supprisingly shallow hulled boats tbh.

Though they would be deeper. Must have been hairy loaded in blow!

Looking good Ray.

I reckon Easter as the speed you build.

Need to update on my starlet progress painted and started fitting out!

Thread: Bristol Channel Pilot Cutter

Looking good.

Did the pilot cutters not have any shear? IE rise in the decks towards the stem?

Also are you putting noggins in between the frames each side of the keel to land the planks on?

Cheers James

I'm in the middle of building a starlet build which my dad started about 30 years ago!

He cut the frames etc and o have planked with 6mm cedar. So she's a starlet+

How is your starlet coming along.

I've starting one, well completing one my dad started about 30 years ago.

I'm thinking of planking it with cedar planking that I have.

Will be different and as I'm not intending on racing it I'm happy with it!

My daughter has taken up sewing over lockdown so she can sew some sails on her machine.

.cheers James

Make your own contribution to the Website

We welcome well written contributions from Website members on almost any aspect of Model Boating with a particular emphasis on practical hints, tips, experience and builds.

In order to maintain a consistent standard and format, all suggestions should first be sent to me by Personal Message for approval in principle. Only a very limited amount of time is available for editing contributions into a suitable format for placing on the website so it is important that the material is well presented, lucid and free from obvious spelling errors. I think it goes without saying that contributions should be illustrated by appropriate photos. I shall be happy to give advice on this.

The Member Contribution area offers space for short informative mini articles which would not normally find a place in Model Boats magazine. It is an opportunity for Website Members to freely share their  expertise and experience but I am afraid that virtue is its own reward as there is no budget to offer more material recompense!

I look forward to receiving your suggestions.
