Hi Ray,

Thank you for your prompt reply and advice.

I have just ordered a pack of obeche, super glue next.

Kind regards

Hi Ray,

Looks like the horse has bolted, I have tissue covered the hull.

Will the obeche adhere to tissue. I am using cascamite resin wood glue.

Kind regards

Michael.

Hi,

Gunwales call for 3 X 1.5 mm ply could someone suggest an alternative please also should these be glued in place before applying tissue or can they be added after tissue.

Thank you

Michael.

Hi,

Can someone tell me what width to allow for the deck planking on the rttl please.

I was thinking of 5 mm.

Kind regards

Michael.

I should add that I have given the hull two coats of shellac sanding sealer.

Thanks

Michael.

Hi or Help,

Is there any difference between tissue paper and modelling tissue?

My rttl calls for heavy weight tissue or silk to be applied to the hull.

What is the opinion of the community with regard to the use of the above please?

Kind regards

Michael.

Hi Ray,

Your drawing looks different to mine, I think mine is older as the layout is slightly different.

Kind regards

Michael.

Hi,

Correction to the above the 3/4 inch should read 1/2 X 1/8 inch running from bulkhead B4 through to B6 on the drawing.

The overall thickness is still 3/16 inch.

Hi Ray and John,

Thank you for the information and photos.

The drawing I am working to requires the stern to have additional 3/4 X1/8 inch strips running through two compartments for twin Rudders. I think stern tubes will pass through these as there is mention of using twin props as an alternative to a single prop.

The thickness becomes 3/16 inch in old money.

Kind regards

Michael.

Hi Ray,

Thank you for the information. I would like to fit 2 props and 2 Rudders would I be right to duplicate the assembly you have shown.

Kind regards

Michael

Hi Ray,

How do I determine the length of stern tube, the drawing shows a prop of around 9 inch for use with a marine engine, no prop size for electric motors. There is also a support close to the propeller but no details of it's construction is this support necessary if so where could I obtain construction details.

Kind regards

Michael.

Hi,

Can someone help me, I am having problems obtaining Rudders to match the drawing along with the propshafts for my Vosper rttl build. I appreciate any help the community can offer.

Kind regards

Hi John,

What a great looking Vosper. A fine job indeed.

Yes I am building from the Vic Sneed plan 1/2 inch to 1 foot,

34 inch length.

I haven't decided on radio control not knowing anything about the subject. Can I fix the deck in the meantime allowing access as per the plan.

Is there any recommended reading on Radio Control please.

Kind regards

Mike.

Hi all,

I have P38 as it happens left over from my kit car build.

I will upload more photos of the Vosper as I progress.

I am thinking of 2 electric motors once I know what's involved with Radio Control.

Kind regards

Mike.

I think I should have asked the forum before carving and fitting the bow blocks. The blocks are carved from solid wood not balsa.

We welcome well written contributions from Website members on almost any aspect of Model Boating with a particular emphasis on practical hints, tips, experience and builds.

In order to maintain a consistent standard and format, all suggestions should first be sent to me by Personal Message for approval in principle. Only a very limited amount of time is available for editing contributions into a suitable format for placing on the website so it is important that the material is well presented, lucid and free from obvious spelling errors. I think it goes without saying that contributions should be illustrated by appropriate photos. I shall be happy to give advice on this.

The Member Contribution area offers space for short informative mini articles which would not normally find a place in Model Boats magazine. It is an opportunity for Website Members to freely share their  expertise and experience but I am afraid that virtue is its own reward as there is no budget to offer more material recompense!

I look forward to receiving your suggestions.
